NEWS TO REPORT
E-mail from Duane Anderson, MT NRIS – Montana continues to work on the changes submitted by Idaho. A spreadsheet was sent showing progress to date.
Idaho supplied Titan with three hucs (Salmon Falls, Goose, and Bruneau) for use with their delineation work in Nevada. These hucs are still very much in a preliminary state and may change pending further review in Idaho, and that information was given to Titan.
A Pacific Northwest watershed meeting was held November 17-20 for Oregon, Washington, and California. Meeting minutes sent from Michael Laitta.
E-mail from Karen Hanson – no definite date yet on when the final standards document will be posted to the website. There is a possibility of a meeting April 19th in Boise with Kenny Legleiter, Michael Laitta, and Karen Hanson to discuss any problems or concerns regarding the watershed data.
E-mail from Titan – they have incorporated Idaho data into the Nevada dataset and will forward that to Dale Gunther.
E-mail from Tracy Fuller – The DOI group will meet Thursday to discuss how much money is available for NHD.
NAMING/NUMBERING DISCUSSION
We will keep our numbering convention, where we number from upstream to downstream adding the tribs as they flow into the main stem. The composite will be handled by starting where the main stem enters the hydrologic unit and then numbering downstream. If there are two tribs that form the headwaters and then flow down to create the main stem and you are unsure which one to start with, you can pick the one with the highest elevation value.
Naming convention. We are going to be consistent with the hydrologic unit names and put the receiving name first.
HUC REVIEW
Bruneau 17050102 – Reviewed Bruneau huc. No line changes were recommended. A name change in one sixth field needs to be done and the names need to be checked for compliance with receiving name first. This huc will be considered to have final approval. Erv needs to fix names and send this huc to Genna.
Jordan 17050108 - Need to check names and send to Oregon/Washington. Lines on outer boundary (fourth field) do not meet 24k standards, need to edge-match with adjoining hydrologic units. This huc was draft approved by the group.
Middle Snake-Succor 17050103 - Erv had checked with the Reynolds Creek folks to see if we could coordinate, but their flumes are not set at the confluence. Erv needs to check the Clark's Island watershed linework. Names need to be checked. Need to check names and send to Oregon/Washington. Lines on outer boundary (fourth field) do not meet 24k standards, need to edge-match with adjoining hydrologic units. This huc was draft approved.
Lower Boise 17050114 – The fifth field lines proposed in the November meeting were reviewed, and some sixth field lines were proposed. More work will continue on this hydrologic unit.
Brownlee Reservoir 17050201 – The name differences were reviewed, and changes were noted on paper map. Keep current Idaho linework. These changes will be made and this huc will be considered draft-approved, as before.
Caribou/Targhee hydrologic units - Paper maps were reviewed, some changes were proposed on the Idaho side to fit with current standards. Genna will make changes and provide a new set of maps.
MISCELLANEOUS DISCUSSION
The Idaho Technical Working Group would like to invite Kenny Legleiter, Karen Hanson, and Mike Laitta to Idaho in April. Karen mentioned that they might be able to attend a meeting the week of April 19th.
Erv has been reviewing the suggested changes for Deep Creek in the Salmon Falls (17040213) hydrologic unit and may want to reverse the change that was suggested for that fourth field boundary.
ACTION ITEMS:
Genna Ashley-Poulson will make sure that Valdon and Erv have Karen's Lines for the Goose Creek Huc
Sandra Thiel will send an NHD status map to the Idaho TWG.
Genna Ashley-Poulson will change the American Falls huc 17040206 on the status map to reflect the
Data Steward is BLM. In addition, the BLM is delineating Deep Creek within the Salmon Falls huc.
Linda Davis will set up the April meeting with the National WBD folks.
Linda Davis will check for bathymetry for the American Falls huc.
Genna Ashley-Poulson will get lines for Jordan, Middle Snake-Succor, and Bruneau hucs from Erv
Cowley. Genna will send these lines to adjoining states for coordination.
Genna Ashley-Poulson will make changes to Brownlee hydrologic unit, and send the corrected changes to Oregon/Washington, Tim Bliss and Leigh Bailey.
Genna Ashley-Poulson will coordinate with Sandra Thiel and Linda Davis for changes to Eastern Idaho hucs. New maps will be made and sent to Leigh Bailey and/or Lee Leffert for approval.
NEXT SCHEDULED TWG MEETING (S):
