HUC
REVIEW
Medicine Lodge 17040215/Beaver Camas 17040214 4th field
boundary
– The TWG reviewed the Camas Creek/Mud Lake area. It was determined that since Camas Creek is a major tributary
to Mud Lake, Mud Lake should be included within the Beaver-Camas hydrologic
unit, not the Medicine Lodge unit. The
Mud Lake area will become a separate 5th field within this huc, and
the 6th field names will remain the same. Genna Ashley will make these changes and send the shapefiles
to BLM. When these changes are complete, these hucs will be considered draft
approved for concept lines.
Salmon Falls 17040213 The TWG
reviewed this huc. After much
discussion and debate, it was determined that Deep Creek is actually part of
Upper Snake Rock, not the Salmon Falls 4th field unit.
The line that Gary Young and Valdon Hancock reviewed will remain, with
the possible exception of one area east of McCongle Canyon, near the town of
Rogerson. Erv Cowley will work with
Christa Braun to get this area figured out.
The
group also looked at the Blue Gill Landslide area, and determined that no new
delineations should be made in this area.
Upper Snake Rock 17040212 – The TWG reviewed this huc.
These preliminary delineations were done as a pilot project between NRCS
and Titan back in 2002/2003. Sawtooth
National Forest is very interested in getting this huc reviewed and concept
lines/attributes completed. The
following areas were reviewed and recommendations were made:
Clover
Creek was split at Calf Creek for a 6th field unit.
Dry
Creek was split at Clover Creek as a pure 6th. The
remaining reservoir area was grouped in with the eastern portion of Clover
Creek. See shapefile TWG20051213
for exact line placement/deletion.
Due
to time limitations, the TWG opted to review the northern portion of the huc at
a later date, so that Valdon Hancock could review some of the delineations in
the southern portion that affect the Sawtooth National Forest.
Rock
Creek will become one 5th field, from the headwaters to the Snake
River – see shapefile TWG20051213.shp.
Dry
Creek will become one 5th field, from the headwaters to the Snake
River – see shapefile TWG20051213.shp.
Big
Cottonwood Creek will become one 5th field from the headwaters to the
legacy channel in Murtaugh Lake – see shapefile TWG20051213.shp.
USGS
has reviewed the 4th field boundary lines, and the new 4th
field boundary lines will need to be merged into this huc.
The
Upper Snake Rock linework will be used to delineate the missing line in the USGS
4th field dataset. Genna
Ashley will incorporate this line.
Leigh
Bailey will continue with the Upper Snake Rock delineations in Valdon
Hancock’s absence. Genna Ashley
will make the above-mentioned changes, and send this huc to Leigh Bailey for
continued delineation and review.
Camas 17040220 – The TWG reviewed this huc. There
were multiple pour points for the 6th fields within the Camas Creek
headwaters 5th field. The
TWG group cleaned this area up. See
shapefile TWG20051213.shp for linework.
A
portion of a 5th field line was moved (on the east side of Knowlton
Creek Headwaters to avoid crossing a natural stream.
Genna
Ashley will make these changes, and this huc will be considered draft approved.
Upper Owyhee 17050104, and Miscellaneous BLM information
– The TWG reviewed the Upper Owyhee huc.
The 4th field boundary line at Sheep Creek Reservoir should be
moved to include the drainage going into the reservoir.
The correct linework has been delineated in the USGS 4th field
boundary work, and this linework will be incorporated into the Upper Owyhee huc.
Erv
Cowley reported that he re-worked the Nevada linework in the Wildhorse Reservoir
area. The legacy channels go into
the meadow and split into springs in Wildhorse Reservoir.
There was not enough acreage to break the 5th field unit at
Wildhorse Dam, so there are two pour points for this 5th field unit,
but it is hydrologically correct.
The
Dry Creek/Battle Creek area was re-worked to include more of Dry Creek in the
Dry Creek 6th field unit. For
specific line placement, see shapefile TWG20051213.shp.
Erv
Cowley will make the changes for this huc.
After those changes are complete, Genna Ashley will send the Upper
Owyhee, South Fork Owyhee and East Little Owyhee hucs to Mark O’Brien in
Nevada for coordination. Erv Cowley
has also sent these hucs to Zig Napkora and Bruce Zoellick for input.
Per
Erv Cowley – take whatever Oregon/Washington comes up with for the Middle
Owyhee huc, as their preliminary linework looked good.
The
ridge work should be checked on these hucs, and some polygons are not connected
yet. There is still some clean-up
work that needs to be done for these hucs.
Erv
Cowley stated that the Utah linework is good for the Malad River and Blue Creek
areas, and Idaho should be able to match Utah, using their names and numbers.
Erv
Cowley stated that there might be some areas in the American Falls unit that can
be lumped together. Genna Ashley
will get the latest linework from Linda Davis (she was checking on the
bathymetry), and send to Erv and Christa.
ACTION
ITEMS:
Genna Ashley will update the 4th field boundaries of the
Medicine Lodge and Beaver-Camas hucs. She
will send this linework to Erv Cowley and Christa Braun, and these hucs will be
considered draft approved for concept lines.
Erv Cowley and Christa Braun will work on the Salmon Falls
hydrologic unit, and send it to Genna Ashley.
As soon as these changes have been completed, this huc will be considered
draft approved.
Genna Ashley will send Leigh Bailey the Upper Snake Rock hydrologic
unit so that she can review and work on it.
Genna Ashley will also replace the missing boundary line between the
Upper Snake Rock and Little Wood hucs (in the USGS “Final4th” linework) with
the Upper Snake Rock delineation.
Genna Ashley will fix the small changes in the Camas huc, and it
will be considered draft approved.
Erv Cowley and Christa Braun will work on the changes identified
for the Upper Owyhee huc. When
these changes have been completed, Christa Braun will send this huc to Genna
Ashley. Genna Ashley will send the
Owyhee hucs to Mark O’Brien in Nevada for coordination.
The Middle Owyhee linework will be incorporated from Oregon.
As soon as Oregon draft approves their linework, Idaho will consider this
huc draft approved, per Erv Cowley.
Idaho will incorporate the Utah linework for the Malad River/Blue
Creek areas and match to their lines and attributes.
Genna Ashley will send Erv Cowley and Christa Braun the latest
version of the American Falls hydrologic unit.
Erv and Christa will work on lumping together some of the units, and then
send their changes back to Genna Ashley. When
these changes have been completed, this huc will be considered draft approved.
MISCELLANEOUS
DISCUSSION
Erv Cowley is retiring from BLM after 41 years service. Valdon Hancock is retiring from the Sawtooth National Forest after 39 years service. Both Erv and Valdon have done extensive work with the Idaho watershed delineation project, and the Idaho TWG group would like to congratulate and sincerely thank each of them for their valuable input and tireless effort. They will be greatly missed!!
