Rules

Official rules used in the administration of Idaho Water Rights.

Rules of Procedure
Governing contested water right case proceedings before the Department of Water Resources and the Water Resource Board of the state of Idaho.

Beneficial Use Examination Rules
These rules establish examination requirements intended as a guide to establish acceptable standards to determine the extent of application of water to beneficial use.

Water Appropriation Rules
Providing the procedures for obtaining the right to divert and use unappropriated public water as well as water previously appropriated for hydropower use which has been placed in trust with the State of Idaho and is subject to reallocation. Guidelines are provided for the filing and processing of applications, and criteria are established for determining the actions to be taken by the director.

Conjunctive Management Rules
These rules apply to all situations in the state where the diversion and use of water under junior-priority ground water rights either individually or collectively causes material injury to uses of water under senior-priority water rights.

An index with links to all of the Department of Water Resources' Rules  is available by clicking on the underlined titles above.  This link will connect you to the Idaho Department of Administration's Rules and lists all of the department's Administrative Rules.
