What's New

ydronline offers a totally new way to access ground-water level data. A simple interface and standardized functionality allows for easy navigation for data retrievals.

This web application is a project in development. It is being deployed prior to its full completion. As a result, newer versions will soon follow. Shown below are lists of current features, near-future enhancements, and scheduled add-ons. As a new version is release these lists will be updated.

What's New

General Layout

  • Menu: includes the following tabbed options.
    • Index: state map for selecting an area of interest.
    • Wells: options for retrieving well data.
      • WL Year Period: water level data for a well must occur within the specified year period.
      • WLs =>: total number water levels for a well must be equal to or greater than this value for wl year period.
      • Apply: click to apply changes and retrieve well data.
    • Graph: default location for hydrographs.
    • Help: where you are now!
  • Status: shows brief description of current process, general message, or error.
  • Title: brief description of selected area.
  • Thumbnail: scaled image used for panning and zooming.
  • Table: includes the following well data.
    • Well Number: unique identifier based on the U.S. Geological Survey's well numbering system.
    • Water Use: primary water use for well.
    • Year Drilled: year well was originally completed.
    • Min WO: shallowest well opening (feet below land surface).
    • Max WO: deepest well opening (feet below land surface).
    • Total Depth: completed total depth of well (feet below land surface).
    • LSD Elev: elevation of land surface at well site (feet above MSL).
    • # of WLs: total number water level measurements for well.
    • WL Start: earliest year of water level measurements.
    • WL End: latest year of water level measurements.
  • Map: simple reference map showing well locations.

Getting Around

  • Highlighting: Move mouse over table rows or plot points to identify corresponding data.
  • Sorting Click on a table column to sort rows. Toggle for ascending or desending.
  • Selecting:
    • Single Selection: select data by clicking on a table row or plot point.
    • Multiple Selection: --- Near-Future ---
  • Zooming & Panning: applies to Map & Thumbnail.
    • Zoom Method 1: Scroll mouse wheel to zoom in & out.
    • Zoom Method 2: Press Alt key while moving mouse up & down to zoom in & out.
    • Panning: While pressing mouse button down, drag plot and then release.

Creating Hydrographs

  1. Select an area on interest by clicking on Index map.
  2. Select a well by clicking on a table row or map point.
  3. Graph tab will open and show selected hydrograph.
  4. Toggle the water-level data table by clicking the +/-.
  5. Sort water-level data table rows by clicking on a column.
  6. Highlight data by moving mouse over graph or table rows.
  7. Move hydrograph by pressing mouse, drag, and release.
  8. Close hydrograph by clicking red box.

Because this application utilizes recent web technology, only newer browsers will function properly.
